Vision, Desire & Identity

Vision

Our Vision is to join God in a journey of bringing new life, reconciliation, and the presence of Christ to all people, and to helping each person reflect the character of Christ.

Through our ministries, we desire to share the whole counsel of God with all peoples and to advance the presence and fulfillment of the Kingdom of God in every part of the world and at all levels of societies and cultures. The Global Methodist Church is committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the inspiration and authority of the Scriptures, and the work of the Holy Spirit in conveying God’s truth and grace to all people.

We are a global church that recognizes and deploys the gifts and contributions of each part of the church, working as partners in the gospel with equal voice and leadership.

Our witness to the world is marked by mutual love, concern, sharing, and a focus on those who are most vulnerable. We watch over one another in love and bear witness to the transforming power of the Good News as we humbly, but boldly, strive to serve others as ambassadors of Christ!

Mission Statement

NCPAC adopts the following GMC Mission and Vision statements and highly encourages churches to adopt these at their local area as the Holy Spirit guides. Our Mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.

In our worship, we desire to surrender to and be fully devoted to one God—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We are passionate about what is important to God.

Jesus calls those who follow Him to love God wholeheartedly and love their neighbors as themselves. Our desire is to demonstrate to the world the extravagant love of God in the person of Jesus Christ.

We have been entrusted with a lifesaving and transforming message that we must share with others. Our witness is bold, compelling and fearless. Our mission advances when individuals become disciples of Jesus Christ and join God’s mission to make more disciples.. - Global Methodist Church

NCPAC will measure our success through the empowerment of our local churches to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Launch

The Global Methodist Church launched on May 1, 2022.

United Methodist Church leaders have failed to make timely arrangements for holding a General Conference in 2022, and so have postponed it for a third time. Therefore, the

Protocol of Reconciliation and Grace through Separation

, a plan that would have resulted in an amicable and orderly separation will not be adopted until at least 2024. The Transitional Leadership Council determined it must launch the Global Methodist Church this year so local churches, annual conferences, and central conferences wanting to join it could do so as soon as possible.

For approximately 12 to 18 months, the Global Methodist Church will be a church in transition as it prepares for its convening General Conference. During the transitional period, the Global Methodist Church will operate under the Transitional Book of Doctrines and Discipline

.

What is the Global Methodist Church?

It is a church committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly. The Global Methodist Church is filled with warm-hearted, Jesus loving, and Holy Spirit inspired people. They are grounded in Scripture and the life giving confessions of the Christian faith found in the Apostles’ and the Nicene Creeds.

How does a Congregation join?

The process for local churches to join the Global Methodist Church is set forth in our Crossroads article, “The Process for Congregations to Join the Global Methodist Church.
Additionally, local churches must complete the “Congregational Application to Join the Global Methodist Church.” Please also see the document, “Next Steps for a Congregation to Join the Global Methodist Church.”

**Special Announcement**

The Transitional Conference Advisory Team (TCAT) is excited to share with you that we have received approval from the Global Methodist Church, Transitional Leadership Team (TLC), to celebrate the inauguration of our new

North Carolina Provisional Annual Conference (NCPAC) of the GMC on 1 January 2023!...continued below

Along with this joyful announcement we are blessed to share with you that our new President Pro Tempore is Rev. David Banks and our Vice President Pro Tempore is Rev Kari Howard. (There will be no Bishops within the GMC until the first convening conference of the GMC.) We are so honored for their willingness to humbly serve as the first leaders of our new provisional conference! These two positions signify the joining together of the GMC churches formerly of the Western NC Conference of the UMC with churches formerly in the North Carolina Conference of the UMC.   As we all celebrate this historical and joyous occasion we are reminded:

“The mission of the Global Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly. As a Wesleyan expression of Christianity, the Global Methodist Church professes the Christian faith, established on the confession of Jesus as Messiah, the Son of God, and Resurrected Lord of heaven and earth. We are rooted and grounded in the Scriptures and in the historic teachings of the Christian church as defined in our Articles of Religion and Confession of Faith and understood through the Wesleyan lens of faith.”

Thank you for setting aside a time in the worship service of your local church on Sunday 1 January 2023 to celebrate this momentous occasion. We will be one Annual Conference for the Global Methodist Church in the State of North Carolina. This is a wonderous occasion of the work of His Holy Spirit within us all!
