We offer this prayer and reflection as you begin to study the self-nominations and prepare for our Called Conference, April 12 (clergy) and 13 (laity) for the election of Convening Conference Delegates. We have issued a call to a conference wide day of fasting and prayer, Sunday, April 7.

Heavenly Father,

I thank You for those laity and clergy who have prayerfully availed themselves for consideration to represent the North Carolina Provisional Annual Conference as a General Conference delegate. May You continue to watch over them and their ministries in Jesus’ name.

As I read through the nominations, I remember that You alone know each of them and all those in our conference. I am asking for the Holy Spirit to give me discernment that I may hear Your voice and seek Your will and plans above human desires, including my own. I chose not to conform to the pattern of the world but to renewing of my mind given by Jesus. Your word says I have the mind of Christ because You have sent the Holy Spirit. Help me to hear Your voice as You introduce each candidate to me through the words written.

As a conference, may we have unity in Christ to accomplish Your good, pleasing, and perfect will for the witness of the Gospel through the Global Methodist Church here in NC and the world. As we send those to represent us to the Convening General Conference, fill us with your Spirit that there will be unity among our delegates as one’s called into fellowship with Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose name I pray. Amen.
